The banner of Eldensky was raised sometime throughout the early segments of the year 2007; bringing forth a sound of the lands - an honour to our natural world and many pagan traditions of old. This sound brings together natural aspects of the ancient world; the savage realms. Eldensky endeavours to summon these themes; thus giving them both shape and form.
“Elder Tales” - a demo EP was released in late 2007 and since then much work has been put into building upon the Eldensky sound. The debut LP: “From Forgotten Pagan Realms” was released on Feb 16th, 2011 in both digital and physical formats.
After this release I took a break from working on new Eldensky material and turned my focus to another project I am involved with within a similar musical vein; Maglor. Writing had commenced on Maglor's first release, and recording for this took place throughout 2012 ~ culminating with its release on June 9th, 2012. This included a vinyl pressing of the album, in addition to both CD and digital formats.
In early 2013 “Sounds of the Land Studios”
relocated to Canmore - which brought a far
quieter and more inspirational mountain setting to work in. Writing however was often slow, due to several studio upgrades, some severe flooding in June of 2013, and the ever present work schedule.
After several years; a third project that I am involved with saw the release of its first album. This was a dark, ambient neo-classical project that had been quietly dwelling within shadows. Together with my partner and Maglor bandmate, Luthien; we endeavoured to channel our dark wave ideas down this new path.
This was a departure from the heavier albums I had been working on prior. Galathilion's debut "Solitude" was released on July 12th, 2015.
From here on, extremely slow writing commenced here and there on future Eldensky works; interspersed with some overseas travel as well as a year spent living and working in Japan. After a massively long silence...I am pleased to announce the upcoming release of both "Arcane" and "Wonderous Storm." These companion albums are being released together; each different but journeying along the same path. While the LP "Arcane" features traditional heavier elements similar to past Eldensky releases ~ the EP "Wonderous Storm" is a fully ambient journey, meant as an accompaniment to the former.
These will see light on April 21st, 2022 and will only be available via digital format. Despite much enjoying physical formats and also being a rather avid vinyl collector myself; I have decided to go the digital route for a number of reasons. These include both the rising costs of both shipping and pressing physical copies, as well as digital being a far better avenue for reducing one's environmental impact on this earth. Something that I value strongly and is becoming ever more important in this time and age.
I would like to extend my thanks to numerous friends and family both within and outside the music community. Your support and inspiration is of the greatest worth to me. Pints raised high!
If you happen to find this project to your liking; I thank you mightily for the support and hope you enjoy the forthcoming albums. The road goes ever on...
